After graduation from the University of Georgia Law School, I was fortunate to have been appointed as the first legislative aide to the City of Atlanta/Fulton County delegation of the Georgia General Assembly. Following that post, I became law clerk to Fulton County Superior Court Judge George P. Whitman, Sr. Then a year later, I was named Assistant City Attorney for the City of East Point, Georgia.

When I opened my private practice in southwest Atlanta in 1968, I handled residential and commercial real estate deals. I also was appointed to the newly organized Development Authority of Fulton County. My experience with municipal governments proved valuable when I represented homeowners whose property was condemned for the first expansion of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and, more recently, an estate with property condemned by another Georgia county for construction of a new regional airport.

Throughout my career, I have handled transactions for a wide variety of clients ranging from real estate developers to individual property owners. Representing real estate developers who were building government housing throughout the Southeast gave me clear insight into how government real estate contracts are constructed as well the need for individual property owners to carefully consider all options open to them.
