Business Law
My business clients have ranged from well-known recording studios and multi-million-dollar manufacturing operations to small, sole proprietors in need of representation. Early in my career, I served as a trustee in no asset bankruptcy cases filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia. I also represented a number of businesses in bankruptcy proceedings. Later, I served as counsel for a private company in a dispute over the ability of the county to force a company to pay for services that are available but not used by the company. I represented the owner of a mid-sized performance theater in Atlanta for a number of years, which was my entre´ into entertainment law. I now serve as general counsel for an Atlanta-based national record label. I have negotiated performance contracts for individual artists and production companies and have handled usage contracts and disputes for singers, playwrights and composers. During the 1991 session of the Georgia General Assembly, I lobbied for the largest special events and concerts ticket broker in the Southeast. I successfully maneuvered a favorable bill through both houses and gathered enough opposition to defeat three additional bills detrimental to my client. |
